Your Questions Answered HereExisting Medical Plan
Vero Won asked 6 years ago

Hi CF
(1) A relative had a Traditional Medical Plan since 8yrs ago. He was hospitalized 3 yrs later for a medical condition & recovered. A few yrs ago, I tried to apply for him to upgrade from Traditional Plan to ILP as the Traditional Plan has a lifetime limit & he's in his 50s, worried that the limit will eventually be used up. Nowadays there are so many plans with no limit. We tried but the insurer rejected it, so we are stuck with an old plan, which is so unfair.
(2) 2 yrs ago, we tried to apply and successfully gotten a ILP with another Insurer, but this insurer imposed exclusion.

He is now stuck with 2 medical insurance plan, one Traditional Plan that is ever increasing in premium and another ILP which is expensive but yet with exclusion.

I have read your other post about helping others getting upgrade without having exclusion or rejection. Pls advise.

Hi Vero, welcome to AskCF.

Whether a medical card application/upgrade is rejected or excluded depends on the severity of the medical condition which occurred in the past. Just like a lawyer can represent a client to defend him/her in court, the final decision comes from the judge. In this case, it is the insurer's underwriter.

What are these details?

  1. What medical condition occurred 3 years ago?
  2. What was the exclusion on the ILP now?
  3. Is this really you or your relative?
  4. What is the exact plan for the 1st medical plan? And what is the schedule of premiums?
  5. What is the exact plan for 2nd medical plan? How much is the premium and the plan will sustain until what age?
